in common?

Lesson Objective

What makes a story?
I will then list all of the students responses on
the board.

(Flocabulary - Five Things (Elements of a Short
Story)\
As a class we will discuss what the video was
about.

-Setting
-Plot
-Conflict
-Theme

Independent Practice

I will then refer to the list that was made earlier

in the lesson and discuss where each of their
responses correlate in the elements of a story.
Students will create a hand chart to recall the
parts of a story.
Students will trace their hand on construction
paper.
On the finger nail of their traced hand the
students are to write the story element.
On the actual finger, the students are to describe
what that particular story element is about.
Students will then cut out their finger chart.

Closure

Exit slip
Students will respond to the following statement
on a sticky note with their name on it and turn it
in to the Exit Box:
Name and define two story elements.

Assessment

Students will be assessed on how accurately

they fill out their hand chart.

Adaptations & Modifications

Left-handed scissors will be provided. Extra time

can be allotted to certain students if necessary.
Construction paper, Markers, scissors, sticky
notes
I will state that all stories in the world follow the
same element scheme.
