July 2015

ETEC 590
University of British Columbia

Purpose of the e-Portfolio

The purpose of this e-Portfolio is to:

Reflect on my pedagogical developments (theoretical and technical), as an

educational leader through the UBC MET Program

Satisfy the requirements of the British Columbia Teacher Qualification

Services capstone experience for graduate programs

Share my understanding of educational technology integration and

leadership with current and future employers

Provide an opportunity for peers and family to view my learning journey

Audience

The audiences that I will include in my e-Portfolio are:

My UBC instructors/evaluators and current/future UBC peers

Myself as a tool of reflection to review and refine my educational journey and

development

Current and future employers as I continue to move into educational

leadership

Objective

The objectives of my e-Portfolio are to:
1. Make something useful to myself and others in the profession. This requires
the product to be interesting to look at, pedagogically correct and easy top
navigate.
2. Showcase my pedagogical understanding and leadership skills to others,
including peers and potential employers.
3. Make connections between my work, learning and current theories around
educational technology and educational leadership.
4. Show the benefits of educational technology in developing student learning.

Theme/Feel

My e-Portfolio will have a professional look and feel to it. As is will be aligned and
used to promote my educational technology leadership beyond the ETEC 590
course, this is mandatory to create and accurate representation of my
understanding. During this e-Portfolio, I have chosen a sailboat racing theme. As I
regularly competed in this sport, I have developed many leadership, technical and
strategy skills. This relates to my development in the MET program, where I have
developed my leadership skills, improved on pedagogy and continued research into
educational theory. By dividing my e-Portfolio into the components of a sailboat
race, I will be able to separate my artifacts into different parts of my MET journey,
highlighting the initial background and research work, in the start section. Theory
development in the upwind section. Applications in the classroom in the downwind
section, while the finish section will look at the work around creating this e-
Portfolio.

Artifacts

Artifacts will include a selection from many MET courses that I have taken. The goal
is to choose artifacts that show how by thinking around educational technology has
developed throughout the MET program. I will have artifacts created in a variety of
media formats. These will include the following:
Constructivist Webpage
ETEC 500 Research Proposal
ETEC 510 Design Wiki
ETEC 522 Venture Analysis
ETEC 533 Canvas Tutorial
ETEC 533 3D Printing
ETEC 565m Augmented Reality
ETEC 215 Vygotsky Theories
Digital storytelling

Media and Tools

For my e-Portfolio, I will be using the Weebly platform. This platform is a

professional looking and user-friendly web space that can be organized into pages
in a blog format. I have chosen this platform as I feel that is will be an good way to
showcase my development and will provide a suitable platform for continuing to
express my thoughts around educational technology and educational leadership
beyond this course.
