WASHI NGTON, 0. C.

The Honorable Harry S. Trut1ann

President of the United States
Washi ngton , D. c.
Sir :
The newspapers report that you a~e ~~n t
over the dropping of an 11 ato_m i~ bomb " and
the annihila~ibn-of over f6o,6oo people~
I _ hope that this report is incorrii,c,k .,.,... Such
concmct wou!a be i.m\lfortcy'of
g entlemen and
certainly unworthy of the President .

This action, taken \'lith your consent} has

abased the honor of P~erica, and I and many
others are ashamed of our country and its
leaders, including yourself. The Japanese
have collli'Gitted many atrocities but this is
the worst atrocity in the histor y of mankind .
This country has forfeited its entire record
of decency and moral leadership in one act,
so low and despicable as to be unthinkable .
May God have mercy on this people for so prostituting the God given power of the universe .
Faithfully you~~:'.
