Eportfolio Reflection
Before I took this course I only had a slight understanding about what psychology was. The
closest I came to knowing what it was before this class was in my Environmental Ethics class,
where we talked about existentialism, humanism, and many other theories. Back then I thought
that psychology was based off of theories and ways to force the human mind to think of
something other than what it was before. Now that this class is over I have a broader view and
better understanding on what psychology really is about. Psychology is based on the different
parts of the brain and how they react to certain types of stimulation, perception, drugs, receptors
and chemicals in the brain, and how emotions make people react and do the things that they do.
After everything that Ive learned from this course my assumptions and understandings have
changed substantially on what psychology is and how it works. They changed because before I
thought it was all philosophy, and now I realize that it is much more than that. All of the
assignments, activities, and readings were very influential in this learning process. I thought that
the quizzes were the most influential in this course because they required me to do a lot of in
depth research on each topic and question, and since I find psychology very interesting I looked
even deeper into some of the subjects on my own time. I will approach psychology different in
the future by keeping an open mind and learning a broader base of knowledge.
