Radius of Himayatsagar and Osmansagar likes which are the main sources of drinking, water supply for Hyderabad and Secunderabad tasing on the interim report of the Expert Copmmitice constitsed by Hyderabad Metropotian Water Supply and Sewerage Board to suggest ways and mezas to monitor the quality of water in these reservoirs. 2. Inthe D.O. Leter 6" read above, the Mnazing Director, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has furnisbed second interim report of the Committee prepared after detailed discussion aad a field visit to Osmansagar pipe lines, making certain recommendations for the protection of the lakes. 3. Government after careful examination of tie recommendations of the Committee, have decided to issue the following orders in modification of the earlier orders issued in G.O.Ms.No. 192, MA, dated 313-1994, To prahibit polluting industries, sor hotels, residential colonies or other Eswabiishments that generate polluion in the catchment of the lakes upto 10 K.anes. from full tank level of the lkes as per lst in Annexure-L However, residential developments in residential use zone may be permiced. The following measures shall be taken to protect water following in to the kes, a) 6% of the total area shall be dept as open space and roads in all layouts in Ee villages of catchment are= 2gTo iv) b) The land use of about 90% of the area is ckassified as recreation! and conservation use in the Maser Plan. The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority should ke action for the clasification of this 90% of the area as agriculture which is inclusive of horticulure and florichure, ©) To ressict the F.S1. to 1:0.5 in the catchment area. This measure will ensure that 90% of the area remsins under agriculture as is the practice ow end ensure protection of the Iskes. 4) To monitor periodically the kvel of different pesticides, xilizer residues carried into the lakes. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water ‘Supply and Sewerage Board shall conduct such studies arough JN-T.UiCentral University or zay other reputed agency and regular intervals and review the results ence in 6 menths. ©) To protibit polluting industries within 10 k.mtrs, radius (i. toch on upstreem and down stream side of the lakes) to prevent acidification of lekes due to air pollution. f) These shall be total prohibition of location of industries im the prohibited zone. 8) Andbre Pradesh Pollution Contrel Board st!l make further studs of the exissing industries in the upstresm and down stream of the letes and take action under their Act. For the protection of raw water chsanel from Osmansagar to Asifnszar no layout or building permission should be granted by Municipal Corporation of Hyderebed/Hyderabad Urban Development Authority/Director o€ Town & County Planning up to 2 maximum of 160 ft. from the conduit site boundary. While approving layouts plan the czaduit, a minimum of9 mtrs. Wide road plus green belt to a maximum width of 100 ft. should be insisted to act as buffer on either side of conduit sad the green belt shall be accounted as part of mandatory opea space to be left the layout. Drainage pipe lines must be laid parallel to the conduit and no sewerage/sullege water discharges shall be allowed from the layouts towards the conduct. Orders issued in G.O.Ms.No. 50, MA., dated 13-1-1989 shall be effectively implemented by concemed Deparments ie. (1) Zilla Parishads.
