Project #2: Reflection 1
While writing Project 2 Draft 1 we learned that it is important to elaborate on
every idea that we were proposing. Elaboration gives the reader a better understanding of
what you are trying to tell them. For example, when explaining the genre of chalking it is
important to give the reader as much detail as possible since this is not a common or
well-known genre of communication. Since our discourse community was a student
organization, the constitution proved to be the most important genre as it gave the most
information on the community. Incorporating secondary sources and inline citations
helped give the reader different point of views on the community and its genres. During
peer review we learned that we needed to correct basic grammatical errors and we were
also told to elaborate more on the connections between the genres and the community.
Our peers also told us that we need a paragraph to conclude our composition. We also
learned we need to incorporate more sources in our paper and make sure we are not
repetitive. And even though our paper was incomplete, our peers gave us mostly positive
feedback, which makes us feel more confident to write the second draft.
