COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This course is being offered as a theatrical preparatory resource for students entering four year
universities, colleges, and professional acting arena
To strengthen and hone acting skills within different genres and theatre movements
Maintain a working knowledge of Standard American Dialect and phonetic study
Strengthen vocal tone, pitch, pathology, warmup
Develop movement for actor success

REQUIREMENTS:
This class is designed for upper classmen who have a theatre intensive focus

MATERIALS:
Actors will need a journal
Binder for repertoire
Actors will build their professional portfolio
Actors will need to acquire professional dress for audition purposes

DRESS:
Students will be moving and utilizing class and stage space. They will need to dress comfortably
in clothes that are not restrictive and within dress code. Ladies, please wear shorts under skirts

GRADES:
Grades will be 30% Participation Based and 70% testing based

COURSE FORMAT:
This class will explore practical audition experience and career planning including practicing audition
skills focusing on monologue selection and performance, cold readings, movement/dance calls, warmups, voice and speech development, scene work, and audition etiquette and protocol. Since monologues
are the most common way actors interact with possible employers, talent representatives, and casting
offices, we will spend a portion of our time working on them. Students will work through components of
script analysis, theatre history, elevated scene work, elevated test, character development, and film work.
