These now specications are not only aimed at keeping abreast with current technologies but aso helping in improving the quaty of constructed product. In unison, these new specifications. have @ signiicant postive impact on the construction industry especialy with the incorporation of now products and technologies. This speciation provides an improved guidance In the material selection and the production of good quality workmanship and products bbased on current best practices. The work shall ‘also include the demoliton and disposal of stuctures in the said reas, ‘except where otherwise provided for in the Contract, as spectied herein and as required by the S.0. 24.4.1 Site Clearing Clearing shall consist of cuting andor taking down, removal and dlsposal fof everthing above ground lave, including objects overnanging the areas to be cleared such as trea branches, except such trees, vegetation, Structures or pars of structures, and other things which are designate in the Contract to remain, or be removed by other, of which the §.0. directs ‘are to be left uncsturbed. The material fo be cleared shall include but not, recessarly be limited to trees, stumps (parts above ground), logs, brushwood, undergrowth, long grasses, cops, loose vegetable matter and structures (except those structures whose removal of clearance Is otherwise provided for inthe Contract). Clearing shall also include leveling of obsolte dikes, terraces, ditches, ec, unless otherwise dicted by the 80. 2..4.2Grubbing rubbing shall consist of removal and disposal of surface vegetation bases of stumps, roots, underground pars of structures, and other ‘structions to a depth of at least 0.50 m below ground level, with the agreement of the $0. 2.4.4.8 Stdpping Topsot ‘Stripping topsoil shall consist of the removal of topsoil to an average depth of at least 100 mm below ground loval, and is stockpiling for use in the Works, andlor is disposal, as directed bythe S.0. 2.1.14 Dumping ‘All materials resited from ste clearing shal be dumped tothe Contractor's dump site 2s approved by the S.O. Method statement on dumping wth Paricular emphasis on prevention of environmental polluton shall be submited othe $.0. for approval se (oxrispu013-s2) 24.2 Construction Methods 2.12.1 Areas to be Cleared ‘The areas where the Works are to be carried out shal! be cleared as described in Sub-Section 2.1.1, uniess otherwise shown on the Drawings andlor directed bythe 80. tearing shall be carried out to the extents deemed necessary and approved or directed by the 5.0. in areas outside the road reserve where ‘channel excavation or other works required, In areas which are to be cleared only, and in which grubbing and sipping topsoil are not required, the methods of work shall be such as wil not unduly damage the surface vegetation and tops, and care shal be taken Not to isturb the topsoil and the root systems of grasses and other surface vegetation. No topsoil! shall be removed from such areas, except as icected by the S.0,, and any topsol grasses and other surface vegetation otherwise removed or disturbed shall be replaced and made good at the Contractors own expense, with the agreement ofthe S.0. 2.1.2.2 Areas to be Gleared, Grubbed and Stipped of Topsoil, Uniess otherwise shown on the Drawings andlor dicted by the 8.0, clearing, gubbing and stripping topsoil shall be carried aut in all reas of roadway excavation and in all areas where embankment is 10 be constructed, excep hat grubbing and sipping topsoil shall not be catied ‘ut in those areas were embankment is to be constricted on ground Identiied as swamp o soft ground, Cearing, rubbing and stipping topsol shall be caried out tothe extents doemed necessary and approved or directed by the S.O. in areas both Inside and outside the road reserve where channel excavation or other work is requires Except where further excavation is required, holes and caves in the ground surface afr clearing, grubbing and stipping topsoll shall be filed with materiis similar to the adjacent ground, and such fil shal be ‘compacted 10 a dry density similar to that ofthe surtounding material, with {the agreement ofthe 8.0. ‘This work shall be considered incidental to the work of clearing, grabbing and stripping topso, and shall not be measured for payment. 2.1.2.3 Topso Topsail tobe stockpiled for the Works shall be sufficiently fertile to promote and support the growth of vegetation, and shal be taken from such reas Where clearing, qrubbing and stpping topsoil required as approved or directed by the S.0. Before stockpling, topsoil shal be separated from wz (oxrusPuz01s.s2) objectionable materials as defined in Sub-Section 2.1.2.6, with the ‘2greement of the $.0.
