    Brian Wilson wrote "Good Vibrations" with Mike Love and produced it himself over seven months in four different studios at a cost of over $50,000. Wilson built the song in sections using different instruments to color the mood swings. Though intended for the Beach Boys' Smile album, Wilson suffered from depression and abandoned the album, completing it and performing it live to standing ovations in 2004. "Good Vibrations" became the Beach Boys' third number one hit.
