    First,studentsshouldbuildthefirstnumberinthesubtractionsentencewithcubes.(In
    thisproblem,thenumberis4.)

    Next,studentsshouldtakeawaythesecondnumberofcubesfromthefirstnumber
    theybuilt.(Inthisproblem,studentswouldtake1cubeawayfromthe4.)

    Then,studentsshoulddrawthecubestheybuilttoshowtheirwork.(Theyshoulddraw
    4cubes.)Thenstudentsshouldcrossoffthenumberofcubestheytookaway.(They
    shouldcrossoff1cubeinthisproblem.)

    Finally,studentsshouldfillintheanswer(alsoknownasthedifference)inthe
    subtractionproblem.
