Students will scan their ID card when boarding the bus and when getting off the bus. This will provide us important, accurate, and timely information about our bus riders. If a student is at their stop and does not have their ID, the driver will manually enter the name and stop location into the system.

Dear Bunger Parents and Guardians, Your child's safety is our top priority. As you know, for the past few months, our students have been wearing specially coded IDs for 1. Positive identification 2. Lunch and breakfast account charges 3. Media center checkouts We are now beginning to use ID cards on our busses. Beginning Monday morning, students will scan their ID card when boarding the bus and when getting off the bus. This will provide us important, accurate, and timely information about our bus riders. The new technology will tell which students are riding which buses, and when and where they get on and off of the bus. GPS will allow us to track the bus. We will use this for all bus routes, including field trips and after school activities and sports. This will be an important safety improvement that will benefit all our families, even those whose students dont often ride the bus. Students may access the bus with and without ID cards during the pilot. If a student is at their stop and does not have their ID, the student will be able to get on the bus and later get off the bus, because the driver will manually enter the name and stop location into the system. This will still give us real time records of all riders. The more students who can scan onto and off of the bus with their IDs each day, the more smoothly it will go. Cards must be in good, readable condition. I want to emphasize the importance of the students having an undamaged ID card. If the card is bent, or cut, or chewed, this makes them unreadable by the scanner on the bus. Questions? We know we will learn how to make the ID cards work better through our bus pilot.
