1. DEFINITION OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT


Descriptive Text is a kind of text with a purpose to give information.
Descriptive Text is the clear description of people, places, objects, or events
using appropriate details. An effective description will contain sufficient and
varied elaboration of details to communicate a sense of the subject being
described. The Details those are used are usually sensory and selected to
describe what the writer sees, hears, smells, touches, and tastes.
The Social Function of Descriptive Text is to describe a particular person,
place, or thing
2. GENERIC STRUCTURE
The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text consists of Identification and
Description.
Identification : To identify the things or person that will describe.
Description
: Describe the things or person or place according to the
characteristic of the thing, person or place that will be describe. We can use our
sensory to describe, such sees, hears, smells, touches, and tastes.
3. LANGUAGE FEATURES
Tense which is often used is Simple Present Tense. However, sometimes it uses
Past tense if the thing to be described doesn't exist anymore

Ice Cream
Ice cream is a frozen food that is made from milk or cream of milk with varieties of flavor. Ice
cream is very interesting because some ice creams are colorful and the taste is so tasty. Ice cream
is very refreshing when the weather is hot. It melts in our mouth, and its a brain freezing food. Ice
cream is also considered as one of the popular desert in the world.
