Q2
Connected but not Dependent

Lines end with words that sound the same, I could say that this poem has a rhyme. It has
a rhyme scheme of a-a, per two lines. One example of which are the words ground and sound
from the first stanza. This poem has an iamb rhythm. It has stress on the second word of every
line. For example on the first line of the fourth stanza, there is stress on the word, not. Lastly, the
poem has no meter. The syllables per line are not equal even if you compare it to other stanzas.
For example the first two lines has ten syllables each but the third and fourth line has nine
syllables each and the number of syllables for the other lines are also not equal. The formal
elements of the poem are has a rhyme scheme of a-a, an iamb rhythm and has no meter.
The poem shows an image of nature in reality. When rain comes, you can smell the
ground.

Frogs come out at night making their own sounds. Trees can be found almost

everywhere. There are red feathered birds that are called robins which make chirping sounds. All
of these are real and this is how nature is. The writer tells us this reality in such way that even
plants and animals personifies actions. The writer also tells that none will know about a war or
will care when it is done, it is the way things are. We live different and separate lives here on
Earth. There is a continuous cycle and it goes on for the plants, animals and the seasons.

Nature does not depend on humanity but humanity depends on what nature could give
them. Perhaps we know that we can never create energy because it is from our natural resources
but we can convert it to another form so we can use it. For example, we are depended from what
nature can give us so we try our best to utilize it as much as we can. We are looking for ways to
preserve the resources that are not renewable because time will come that it will be gone but
according to the poem, when humanity perishes, nature will just be around and continue to live
on and adapt to whatever will happen. Global warming, deforestation, greenhouse gases,
pollution and many other problems which caused by humans bring threat to the total destruction

of nature but we can never be sure who will last longer. Humans will develop advance
technology to survive and adapt but it never be enough, we will all die and vanish. Nature does
not need humans in order to survive because they would live longer than us. We would not be
remembered because they never depended on us.
