BUFFALO, N.Y. February XX, 2014 The 2014 Buffalo Home Show Two Weekends
Only is back and better than ever to celebrate its 70 th Anniversary at the Buffalo
Niagara Convention Center on March 7-9 and March 14-16. Visitors will get a chance
to visit hundreds of exhibitors, hear from celebrity guests, participate in interactive
seminars and even meet some exotic animals!
Each year we challenge ourselves to put on a show that inspires, informs, and
impresses our visitors, said Ellen Carroll, Buffalo Home Show manager. This year,
we are hoping to motivate homeowners to protect themselves from the
unpredictable Buffalo weather and storm proof their homes.
The Buffalo Home Show welcomes celebrity guest and host of PBS This Old House
and Ask This Old House, Kevin OConnor. OConnor is an award winning home
improvement expert who has helped hundreds of families rebuild their homes after
the devastating effects of Superstorm Sandy. He will give presentations on storm
proofing your home in the unpredictable Buffalo winters while also revealing behindthe-scenes secrets on the current season of This Old House. After each
presentation, OConnor will be signing autographs and giving away one free Festool
tool kit valued at $400. Presentations will take place Saturday, March 8 at XXX.
The talented teams from the Interior Design Association (IDA) of Buffalo are back
and really rolling out the red carpet for this years White Room Challenge. The
seven designers will be asked to design and decorate a 12 x 12 room, using a single
Hollywood-themed poster as inspiration. Each room will start as a blank canvas but
the designers must transform it while incorporating the following mandatory

elements: a square metal cube table; 10 x 10 metal flashing; 3 yards of primed

canvas; an overhead light; and their imagination!
After all the finishing touches, visitors will be able to walk through each room and
then vote on their
---More--favorite design. The winner gets bragging rights and a random voter will receive a
two-hour consultation with the designer they voted for. The White Room
Challenge will show that a little imagination and a whole lot of inspiration can
make any room or space fit for an A lister.
Sounds & Theater will return to give visitors a backstage pass to the White Room
Challenge and discover how the designers creative process unfolds. By visiting
www.buffalohomeshow.com during setup week, visitors will be able to watch a live
feed of all the action and watch the transformations unravel before their very eyes.
The M P Caroll Hardwood Floor Giveaway Contest is back for the sixth year, and this
year its better than ever. The winner will receive 300 square feet of oak plank
flooring and a lesson on how to install the floor themselves with one of Western New
