1.
Entries - All entries must be on the official entry form. No entry will be considered valid
unless the entry form has been completed in full.
- Breed prefixes on exhibits at Show must be those of the Breeder. Any name discrepancy
will mean elimination.
- Breed classes - registration number must be stated at the time of entry.
- The name of the entered exhibit must be the same name as on the RAS Certificate
(Annual or Life). If sponsorship is secured and the name of the sponsor is required to be
added to the exhibit's name, an application must be made to the RAS Head Office for a
replacement certificate.
- The South Island Premier Show Committee will not be held responsible for any accident,
loss or damage that may be caused to, or suffered by any exhibit, person or property and it
shall be a condition that the signing of the entry form, that each exhibitor shall hold the
Committee indemnified against any claim.

- Entry Fees and Fees must accompany entries. There will be no refund of entry fees
under any circumstances except on presentation of a Doctors/Veterinary Certificate to
be produced before or within 7 days of the day of show 75% of entries will be
refunded. No refunds under $20 will be made except where grading affects the class.
- Substitution of any entry can only be made at the discretion of the Show/Committee.
- The Show/Event reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry.
- Entries will be returned if the compulsory fees are not paid.
3.
Arrears - No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any
other Show/Event charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated Show. Proof of
payment will be required before any restriction is lifted

The Show Committee reserve the right to alter, change or combine classes

Classes will not be held up if you have entered more than one section.
7.
Exhibitors must carry a current official RAS Life or Horse/Pony annual height and
performance card, failure to do so will result in elimination.
8.
All protests must be in writing, and lodged, with the Secretary either before or after the
Judges have proceeded to their duties. Any exhibitor entering a protest must deposit
$100, which will be forfeited if the protest were not sustained. If the protest is lodged
before the Judges proceed to their duties, the onus of proof will rest with the exhibitor. If
after that the onus of proof will be with the party protesting. No protest will be received
later than half an hour after the prize tickets are affixed. The Committee will decide all
protests as soon as practicable, and there should be no appeal from their decision

Stallions - All Stallions & Colts (with the exception of Miniature horses & foals) must be
shown in a bit.
- The Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing
undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion/colts,
owner/exhibitor/competitor.
- It is compulsory for all stallions/colts except for foal, to wear two (2) official S
identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all shows/events at all
times. The rider must also wear two (2) RAS official armbands (one on each arm) when in
the ring.
- Handlers and Riders of stallions/colts must wear an approved Hi Viz vest at
Shows/Events when outside the show ring

Mares - Dry mare is a mare not to foal during the current show season (1 August
to 31 July)
- Mares shown in Broodmareclasses must have a foal at foot or present a veterinary
certificate of pregnancy that includes a projected foaling date. Mares shown in the summer
season without a foal at foot would be expected (before Christmas) to be a late foaling in
the summer or autumn, or (after Christmas) to have weaned an early foal and be back in
foal with a spring due date. Mare falling into either of the above categories should prove
eligibility with a veterinary certificate. Anything less will be unacceptable.
- Broodmares with a foal at foot are ineligible for ridden or harness classes

This Show/Event supports the RAS, Yellow Card system A Yellow Card will be
issued, In cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behavior
as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the
Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered Measuring Stand and
their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person
Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show)
which suspends and penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of the Yellow
Card system is available to view on the RAS website www.ras.org.nz

Forbidden Substance - The Rules of the Royal Agricultural A&P Society New Zealand in
regard to Forbidden Substances apply. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden
substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing of all animals is
at the person responsible risk. Forbidden Substance - Any substance capable of
affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by
its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardiovascular,
respiratory, digestive, musculoskeletal or urogenital systems.

Summary of RAS Resolution Process - the full process can be found on the RAS website
www.ras.org.nz.The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to
hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show. If the matter is in
regards to an RAS official, the show may request the assistance of the RAS Head Office
as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner.
15.
Wearing a hard hat is compulsory for anyone competing on, working in, schooling or
riding for any other reason, a horse at the Show/Showgrounds
- All Riders on Novice exhibits and 16yrs and under must wear protective headgear,
which Includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than 2 points. Such
headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened, anywhere
within the Showgrounds.
- Hats/helmets must conform to the current standards.

Number Holders - To be worn by either Horse or Handler. Compulsory for all classes
/sections, both Led & Ridden. No Back Numbers will be provided. Correct Back
Numbers must be displayed for each entry in the class.

18.
Stables and Yards must be cleaned out once finished with. There is to be No
Smoking in Stables. Any person found smoking in the stables may be fined $500.
Stables will be allocated on a first in, first served basis.

All horses must have an ID tag on their halters while at the Show (& stabled) with a
name and cell/ph number.

A Novice is a Horse or Pony that has yet to win (6) firsts in any division within
conformation classes at any A&P or RAS affiliated Show as at the date of the
Show.(Ladies & Gentlemens Hack class wins count as a conformation class).
Number of wins is as of day of show. If a Novice entry gains 6 wins by the day of the
show the competitor is to advise the secretary's office and may change to an another
class or a refund will be offered.

Novice Ponies/Horses are able to enter Open Riding classes & Title classes.

You must have entered & competed in a Ridden Class before being eligible to enter
Title Classes.

Any unruly horse or pony may be asked to leave the ring and/or grounds at the
discretion of the Judge or Member in Charge.

All times listed in the schedule/catalogue are approximate, please be ready for your
class.

Riding Horse:
Riding Horses are saddle horses who do not fit the criteria of Hacks/Park Hacks or Saddle Hunters in
type, but somewhere in between. A quality horse, they must possess the conformation, soundness,
manners and paces of a show horse and be capable of carrying a Lady or Gentleman rider pleasantly for
longer journeys. Horses will be required to gallop within the confines and constraints of the venue .
Saddle Hunter:
Hunters shown under saddle should show substance, be active and well mannered with strong easy paces.
The horse must be capable of carrying weight over long distances and varied country. A Saddle Hunter will
not be required to jump but must gallop within the confines and constraints of the venue.
Equitation:
In Equitation Classes the rider has a choice to wear a three point Harness Safety Helmet.
Riders opting to wear a safety riding helmet will be judged on equal terms as a rider
wearing the traditional bowler hat and lanyard.
Junior & Intermediate:Junior Costume may be informal or Childrens, Intermediate Costume
semi-formal or informal. Well kept older gear should be marked higher than new gear
Senior:Costume to be formal. Saddlery will be judged on quality, condition and suitability.
