REVIEW FOR EXAM #3

INDEPENDENCE OF GOD
Definition: God does not need us or the rest of creation for anything, yet
we and the rest of creation can glorify him and bring him joy.
Verse reference: Acts 17:24-25, Job 41:11
God did not create human beings because he was lonely. In fact in John it
is suggested that Jesus and the Father were glorified before creation (Jn
17:5)
Even more, we see love between the father and son before creation (Jn
17:24). God does not need us to experience love.
There was no loneliness or lack of fellowship before creation. In fact the
fellowship that the trinity experienced far surpasses fellowship that we can
enjoy with a million people. And it was far more perfect any communion
that we can have with God.
What should also be considers with respect to this doctrine is that we and
the rest of creation can bring him glory and joy.
We are not meaningless. Because...
A) God created us for His glory (Isa 43:7).
B) B) God can delight in us and rejoice in us (Isa 62:4-5)
Also see Zeph 3:17-18 and notice how God sings over his creation.

THE ETERNITY OF GOD

Definition:God has no beginning, end or succession of moments in his own
being and sees all time equally vividly, yet God sees events in time and
acts in time. Verse reference: Psalm 90:2God existed before time. In fact
He created it. God sees all time equally vividly.Psalm 90:4 says "For a
thousand years in your sight are but yesterday..."As clear as we can think
of events that unfolded on the day before, God can see 1000 years ago as
vivid, and even more vivid. 2 Peter 3:8 further suggests that one day is like
a thousand years. Meaning each day from God's perspective lasts a
thousand years. It is as of the day never ends but it is always experienced.
