Respiratory gases
Nutritive function
Excretory function
Less obvious function is regulation
Hormonal: endocrine system is reliant on circulatory system to send
out appropriate signals
Control body temperature
Circulatory system is crucial for immune response and movement of
leukocytes.

Circulatory has 2 circuits: pulmonary and systemic

Pulmonary: lower pressure circuit where we have blood moving from
our heart through pulmonary arteries to lungs where we can exchange
gases then back to heart via pulmonary veins.
Systemic: oxygenated blood coming from pulmonary circuit being sent
out via aorta with high pressure to systemic circuit with capillary beds
and then returned to the heart via vena systems.
Oxygenated blood in both veins and arteries. Are they taking blood
away from the heart or to the heart?

Coming into the heart from the systemic system is the superior vena cava
