Bill Gates
Bill Gates, co-founder of the highly successful computer software
company Microsoft, is currently the richest man in the world and an
important figurehead to those eager to rise to the top. Born October 28,
1955 in Seattle, Washington, to William H. Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell
Gates as William Henry Gates III, Gates had a conservative upbringing.
From an early age, Gates proved himself a child who didnt take to listening
very well, and as a result he was sent to Lakeside School (a private
prepatory school). It was at Lakeside where he first showed an interest in
computer technology, expressing it through an old computer that was
bought through fundraising. Gates pooled together with several others who
also shared the same interests as him, most notably Paul Allen, and began
to work on programming software for this computer. Eventually, his group
of friends got into some trouble for exploiting several bugs within codes of
these computers, and got banned from using them. After the ban was lifted,
however, the company that they had banned them offered them jobs in
which they used their abilities to find these bugs and remove them. It was
there where he worked until his high school graduation in 1973.

After his graduation, Gates attended Harvard University until his

Senior year, when he dropped out due to his growing interest in developing
a software companyone that turned out to be a household name named
Microsoft. This company, founded by both Gates and Allen, turned Gates
into the worlds richest man, even after he resigned his CEO (chief
executive officer) position in 2000 and turned it over to Steve Ballmer. He
continues on as the worlds wealthiest person even today, although he
mostly focuses on using his money to better society, otherwise known as
philanthropy. Since his resignation and involvement in Microsoft, he has
founded multiple charity organizations, among them is the Bill and Melinda
Gates foundation, which continues to help out the community today.
