What can dictionaries and encyclopedias help us with? What parts of the
dictionary/encyclopedia are there?
MATERIALS:
Smartboard, Prezi, writers notebook, compare & contrast charts, dictionaries &
encyclopedias
PROCEDURES:
Get out writing notebooks
Write the definition of dictionaries and figurative language and the different parts of
the book.
Compare and Contrast dictionaries and encyclopedias
Have students look up example words
INFORMAL ASSESSMENT:
Students will create their own dictionary with their favorite words
