A)

At stage 1, it is only preparing a homogenous slurry / jelly of thickener.

Hence a speed of 200-300 rpm with cowls stirrer is recommended. Ensure
the stirrer is at 50 % the depth of the slurry / jelly.
Duration is 10-15 minutes.
At stage 2 it is the dispersion process of pigment and extender process,
hence a tip speed of 8-10 m per sec. to be maintained. For a disc diameter
of 5 cm one has to maintain a RPM of 3500 + / - 250.
Duration is 25-30 minutes.
At the third stage it is let down process where the RPM is 500-800 for disc
of 5 cm Duration is 8-12 minutes.
At stage 4 final stage of completion where the RPM is 300 to 500.for disc of
5 cm.
Duration is 5-10 minutes.
B) The experiment that I told to assess the whiteness and /or opacity of NaAl-silicate, I forget to inform you to add 10 ml of acrylic emulsion.
Please include in the procedure.
The steps are:
20 gm powder + Mix of solution of 1 % Natrosol 250 MHR having 15% Indofil
850 - mix well (no lumps) + 10 ml / gm of acrylic emulsion
Mix well and cast a draw down along with reference sample.
