1765 by an English schoolmaster
named John Stair. It is also known
as the Williams pear in other parts
of the world.

developed in
England in the 17th

The romans proceeded to


use grafting techniques to
develop more than 50
varieties and introduce
pears into other parts of
europe.

Bartlett eventually came


west when the fourtyniners headed to the
great California Gold
Rush.

In 1812, nurseryman enoch


Bartlett Discovered the pear
variety and, unaware of the
pears true name, distributed it
as a Bartlett.
