What is Guidance and Counseling?

the process of helping individuals discover and develop


their educational, vocational, and psychological
potentialities and thereby to achieve an optimal level of

It focuses on a persons strengths, assets, environmental
interactions, educational background, career
development and personality Counseling
is defined as the act of guiding, giving leadership,
supervision, direction or professional guidance for future

INFORMATION SERVICE

This service involves dissemination of


information relevant to the students
life, personality development, college
preparation and general information
that are made available through the
following: guidance brochures, display
of informative materials, cut-outs and
works of arts which are posted in the
bulletin boards.

COUNSELING SERVICE

This is the heart of the guidance


program. It is a unique face to face
relationship between a counselee and a
counselor. The counseling process will
provide the counselee the opportunity
to learn, feel, think and understand
himself to make decisions, solve his
own problems and develop selfdirection.

INDIVIDUAL INVENTORY SERVICE

This service is designed to gather all


reliable information and pertinent
records of the individual student. These
records include personal data, family
and cultural background, health
history, scholastic achievements, out-of
school activities, follow-up records,
significant notes based on interviews
by counselors, teachers and parents.

TESTING SERVICE

Testing is an appraisal service given to


obtain a measure of the students
ability, achievement and other
characteristics. These data are used to
predict future performances, diagnose
student problems and learning
difficulties and evaluate instructional
methods and programs. It seeks to
address the need for assessment of a
students strengths and weaknesses.

CAREER GUIDANCE

It is designed to assist students make a


correct choice of a course and activities
where they could be involved in. It also
extends direct assistance to students to
achieve necessary adjustment in
certain curricular and co-curricular
activities in school that suit their
interests, abilities and needs.

HOMEROOM GUIDANCE

Designed to foster individual and


community development, different
modules of topics ranging from study
skills and self-esteem development to
self-awareness and class unity are
effectively carried out by the
counselors, together with the help of
the Homeroom Advisers

MEDICAL & DENTAL CLINIC

The school clinic is responsible for safeguarding the health of


the students and school personnel on campus. The clinic
staff is composed of a physician, a nurse, a dentist, and
dental aide.
At the start of the school year, the clinic conducts general
physical and dental examinations for freshmen, whereas
upper level students have their annual check-up before the
end of the school year as part of their clearance
requirement. In emergency cases, students are
accommodated at the nearby public hospital (Mabalacat
Emergency Hospital).
The clinic is also in charge of issuing health advisories (e.g.
imposing the dengue awareness month) to ensure the
welfare of the ABHS community.

Physical Examination (PE)


Annual Physical Examination is regularly conducted to all
year level as well as the transferees
Varsity Players and athletes who will join the games during
the Intramurals as well as those who will join inter school
competitions are required to undergo physical examination.

LIBRARY SERVICES

The mission of the library is to assist


our students, faculty and staff in their
pursuit for learning by
providinginformation and recreational
reading. Its goal is to create lifelong
learners who are educated users of
information

STUDENT SERVICES

Reference and Information Service.


Personalized assistance provided for
students and faculty who seek
information and materials for study and
research. At the help desk, the librarian
on duty conducts reference interviews
with the user to determine their
information need and providing the
information or sources of information
that meet their need.

STUDENT SERVICES

Readers Advisory Guidance. Users


are guided to materials that match
their unique reading interests,usually
literature and fiction books for pleasure
reading.
Circulation/Book Loan Services.
Allows users to borrow and renew (reborrow) books as well as request to
Place on Hold book/s they would like
to borrow at a later time in the day.

STUDENT SERVICES

Referral Services. If the needed


information/material is not available in the
library, students and faculty are referred to
another institution that has the
information/material they need.
Current Awareness Service. Keeps
students and faculty aware of the new
library resources and services through new
book displays, book showcases, bulletins,
and thematic exhibits.

This is celebrated the whole month of
November involving students and faculty in
all year levels.

FACULTY LIBRARY SERVICES

Alternative Class Activities. May be


requested by faculty members who would like
to bring their classes to the library during
their class period for research activities.
Book Reservation Service. Books and
other library materials that will be used for
required class readings may be withdrawn
from the open shelf collection and placed in
the Reserved Books section. These materials
are placed on reserve to ensure equal use.

Circulation Services for Faculty.


Faculty members and administrative
personnel are entitled to book and
periodical borrowing privileges.

In addition to books, specialized


materials such as periodicals,
electronic materials, on-line databases,
internet access, and other multimedia

academic requirements of all students
and faculty.
