Watch this movie and answer the following questions

1. What is happening in this film?
They are building a rocket ship to travel to the moon.

2. What happened in 1902 with regard to flight exploration

that might have influenced this film?

The Wright brothers practised flying planes and attempted to work
out how to stay in the air for longer. They piloted the first powered
airplane aeroplane that lasted 12 seconds in the air and covered a
space of 12ft.
3. Which moves more? The actors or the cameras?
The actors move more.
4. What is the purpose of this film?
The purpose of this film is to entertain the audience and allow them
to escape from reality, as rockets were not around at this time.
5. Which sections show the development of special effects?
The transitions from scene to scene use a few special effects. These
include fading in and out of scenes, to show it is a different location,
time, frame etc.
6. How is it telling a story?
Its telling a story in a linear structure, with all the acting very over
exaggerated, in a theatrical style.
7. What is important about this length?
Its fairly long for the time it was produced!
8. How do you think Melies has moved film production on

from Muybride and the Lumiere Brothers?

The difference is that Muybridge uses still images and fix them
together to create the vision of movement.
