Westearn and Islamic World
His act of chivalry are legandary

Name: Yousif Ayoub Abu Al-Mouthafar.
Known in Arabic (Salah ad Dien Al-Ayoubi)
Originally from: Kurdistan
Place and Date of Birth: Tikrit, Iraq - 1138
Religion: Muslim
Descriptive Epithet: Saladin means (Righteousness of the Faith) & Al-Malik Al-Nasir
(Victorious King)
He created: The Ayyubid Dynasty from 1174 to 1341; situated today in Egypt,
Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Israel &
Turkey

Achievements And Ideas


He established the Ayyub dynasty.
He returned much of the region to Sunni faith.
He encouraged learning by funding the creation of schools and universities
and giving those who worked there high salaries.
He built the economy back up.
He created a strong army and took Jerusalem from the Crusades.
He fortified and improved the city of Cairo.
The Citadel fortress was built which also housed a hospital that was way
ahead of its time in cleanliness, treatment of patients, and technology.

The Death Of Saladin

Saladin died in 1193 from a fever and left


much of his wealth to the poor of his countries
He was succeeded by his son.

I have become as great as I am because I
have won the heart of men by gentleness and
kindness. Never nourish ill feeling towards any
man, for death spare none. Be prudent in
thyself. Allah will pardon the penitent, for He is
gracious

In September 1192, during the siege of Acre, king Richard the Lionheart gained
a lasting respect for Saladin. When Richard fell sick, Saladin sent him his own
physician to treat him. Along with this health care, he frequently sent him ice to
cool down his fever and plum fruits that were necessary for his recovery
