integrated circuits PBD 3534 SES EAE SR MERE Data Sheet DTMF Generator PBD 3534 is a monolithic integrated DTMF generator intended for use in a telephone set. Internal voltage refer- ence and DC regulation make a direct connection of the circuit to the subscriber line possible. 8-it or dual 4-bit interface capability enables PBD 9634 to be used as a Computer to a telephone line interface, PBD 3534 fulfils the CEPT specification Key Features © Operates with a standard crystal at 3.58 MHz DC regulation is included in the circuit . © Wide operating line voltage and current range . Internally determined ratio between the low and high trequency group level | Signal level can be adjusted with one external resistor @ ‘Easy PC board layout; all keyboard connections on ‘one side of the chip External control from a microprocessor is possible ©. The signal level is stabilized against variations in tem- perature and line current © Short start-up time @ Alltones can be generated separately for testing © Inputs are proteced against electrostatic discharges ‘© The number of external components is minimized © I2L process ensuring good parameter tolerances Functional Diagram “ee Lad te Ae < a a ral) eo] | a Data Sheet PBD 3534 April 1986 Soeatcatons et tocar winetotce Creston ave ‘RPA a 88 PBD 3534 RFA Maximum Ratings Maximum ratings over operating free-air temperature range (unless otherwise stated) Voltages and Currents Line current (Rg, = ©) line 12010 100 A Line current (Rg = 1.6 Mohm) ine 12010 130 mA Line vottage (pulse time = 2s) | ULine 20v Line voltage (pulse time = 10 ms) | ULine 22v Power dissipation LP 600 mw ‘Temperature Range | Junction temperature 1 Ponee ‘Operation ambient temperature Ta | 20°C to +70 °C. | Storage temperature Ts 55 °C to +150 °C Recommended Operating Conditions | symbol | Parameter Min Typ Max Unit _____| a a 4 une | Line current 10 Ta ‘Ambient temperature 20 F5 | Current regulation resistor © Electrical Characteristics Electrical characteristics over recommended operating conditions. A 3.5795 MHz TV chrystal is used as frequency standard. IF two or more keys are pressed, no tones other than the basic eight are generated ‘The chrystal oscillator trequency is divided first by 4 and then by 7 for the tow frequency group and by 5 for the high frequeney group.
