Issue: Black Lives Matter Campaign, the end to racism?

The Black Live Matter campaign is a growing force in our nation. This
campaign started to end the discrimination of blacks. Citing mostly the police
brutality and injustice they face daily. Living along the West Coast we dont
see as much propaganda around this group. We see what hits the news or
social media. I became interested because my youngest sibling is an officer
in the south. In a place I learned racism still exists and is relevant. The
emerging campaign struck my interest mostly for fear and safety of my loved
one. As you go into the black lives matter website you see the self-promotion
of one race that clearly feels discarded and ignored. To quote an article by
Darren Moore Oct 1, 2014, we must be ready to think through and redress
the socioeconomic class underpinnings of ant-blackness and White racial
supremacy. Until we do, whether we are bodies left to die without
compassion in the streets or bodies read a deficits in the communities across

the U.S. Black will continue to be treated as something other than human
and whiteness continues to function as a sign for possession and asset.
This was written in response to the Michael Brown shooting. I am against
this particular campaign as I feel it promotes racism and hate. The following
are some examples.

Black Lives Matter Campaigns Promotion

1. Violence against officers and white people. Police officers have been
gunned down. The first noted and linked to the campaign was in New
York City in December. Two officers were gunned down and killed in
their cruiser. During the officers funerals protests for BLM continued
across the city. Unfortunately this trend has continued as the call
across twitter and Facebook to gun down officers and whites. They BLM
states that they are not in promotion of such violence but they often
rally and chant pigs in a blanket fry them up at their protests and
have no control over the vandalism that takes place.
2. Racism, in the history of America racism has existed. Many have faced
it. There have been many exploited groups and to name a few Native
Americans, Jews, Irish, Chinese and even Italians. You never hear, Jews

are beautiful, Brown Lives Matter, or its a white thing, You just dont
understand. Interesting you can hear a black woman say I am going
to have a black husband so our line stays pure and no other race is
allowed to say anything against it for fear of retaliation. If a white
person were to say that it would back fire and they would have to issue
an apology to the black community.
3. Vandalism and the shutdown of society. The most common of their
militant practices is their protests one that is used often is where they
link arms and walk down rail road tracks, city streets, and urban
intersections chanting Shut it down. They have delayed sporting
events, shut down shopping centers, major retail stores and police
departments. To name a few of the higher profile ones they shut down
Chicagos City Hall and tunnels leading out of Manhattan.
4. False claims, in a report published by Larry King he stated in 2011 123
African Americans were gunned down by police in the same time frame
326 whites were killed as well. Why the disconnect in all the reporting?
Larry King pulled his data from the center of disease controls website
while others have pulled their data form the FBI website. The major
issue with these facts is law enforcement does not have an obligation
to report shootings but the C.O.D. C. does report statistically on all
deaths in the U.S.

Below is the static data found on the FBI website on assaults on police
officers. They have not broken out injury and death. They are a combined
injury total. The number has decreased year over year but the percentage of
injury have not decreased.

While I believe racism still exists I do not feel the black lives
matter movement will cure the injustices that they feel has been
brought upon one race. Not until all discrimination is discussed and
reflected upon and dealt with. I think of the many words of Dr. Martin
Luther King where he dreamed of a nation where all men regardless of
color stood together. I believe in that dream and feel he had great
insight and wisdom. In order for the violence to stop we need to
respect each other as human beings.
