Peer feedback

Recently my group members and I did a micro teaching on the topic occupation.
Although it was quite nervous for us, but we manage to pull it off. My classmates participated
in this micro teaching where they act as year 3 students. In the end of the lesson they
provide us with a good feedback which can help us to improve our lesson from time to time.
Based on the feedback, they had point out our groups strength and weakness. The
strength that found in our lesson was, three of us were having clear voice projection. This
would help the students to understand the instruction that given by us clearly and respond
appropriately towards the instructions. Although our activities were simple, those activities
manage to achieve the learning objectives. Activities such as filling the name card and
constructing simple sentences help the students to enhance their writing skills and would
trigger them to participate actively in the lesson. Besides that, our strength also had focus on
the way of demonstrating the writing before assigning the students with writing activities.
These sections were well conducted by my group members who are Selva and Lenicer in
the practice and the production stage. Based on the feedback given by my friends, using
demonstrating as a technique to teach writing was effectively because pupils will be to write
simple sentences correctly without making any mistakes.
The weakness that found in my group was, during our set induction we did not label
for each picture. Sometimes this would make the student to spell or identify the picture
wrongly which would hinder learners to participate actively in the lesson. Next time we will
take this into consideration which can make the lesson to be more fun and interesting.
As a conclusion, the micro teaching is a guide and a warm up activity for us to
conduct the real teaching in the future. I hope this micro teaching could be conducted as
often in classroom where we as future teachers can gain knowledge on teaching effectively
from time to time.
