REFLECTION PAPER ABOUT HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL TAGLES

SPIRITUAL TALK

It was an honour to be with the same room as Cardinal Tagle and to witness
his spiritual talk, that, as a Catholic, I can say that I am very lucky. At first I thought
that this event would be so grand. Just imagine it, a Cardinal is coming to visit us
and will give a spiritual talk. This is a rare and a once in a lifetime opportunity to
witness. So I immediately grabbed the chance to actually see him. He started it with
a Bible passage entitled Jesus talks with a Samaritan Woman and gave his insights
from it. To be honest, this was one of the best talks that Ive witnessed, knowing
that the one who gave it was one of the most respectable people in Catholicism. I
enjoyed it so much and learned so much from him. His approach was really
interesting and fun. I got so into it and didnt notice the time. I felt that it was bitin
and wanted to learn more from him. I enjoyed the part where he related it to
teenagers like us because I can really see myself from it. He was really kengkoy
but in a good way, at first I thought people that are in a really high place, especially
in religion are really serious people. But, no, hes just like us and hes really humble.
His words are really inspiring and moving. As a youth, we all have our wells so be
it that those are good or bad wells. Each of us has our own thirst in life and it is up
to us whether we will quench our thirst from the good well or the bad well. The good
well that is described here is the well that provides the Life-giving water from the
Lord and with that, we will never thirst again. I was really touched by one story
that he experienced when one youth approached him and asked to sign a shirt for
him. He didnt know what was the purpose or intention of signing a shirt until he
met that person again. The youth said that he havent met his father and with that

signed shirt from the Cardinal that he keeps under his pillow every night, he knows
that he has a Father in the Church. This made me realize the strength of our faith in
God as Catholics. After that talk, Ive realized a lot of things. That Jesus is the way,
the truth and the life. The source of true happiness and contentment, for through
His living water, we will never thirst again. Our God is bigger than our problems in
life. Faith is all we need.
