The Fire Must Not Go Out

Leviticus 1:1-4, 9, 10, 13, 14, 17 – The burnt offering is for atonement of sins and
produces an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
Leviticus 6:8-9, 12-13 - In order to be pleasing to the Lord the fire must not go out.
Romans 12:1 – If our lives are going to be pleasing to the Lord as living sacrifices then
the fire must not go out.
How to keep the fire burning bright
Leviticus 1:3 –
1. Be without defect: 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 10:10, 14 – you are made perfect
through Jesus. Without Jesus no one can be pleasing to God (John 3:36).
(Only male mentioned in Lev 1:3. Male or female for humans today – Galatians 3:28).
2. Present yourself at the Tent of Meeting: The Israelites would later develop a bad habit
of sacrificing under every spreading tree, on top of every high hill, etc. James 4:8 – God
is looking for intimacy (God doesn’t have grandchildren).
Leviticus 1:9 –
3. Wash then burn: Acts 22:16 – repentance equals washing through His blood (Isaiah
1:18). Matthew 3:11 – A life with Jesus is a life on fire (Luke 12:49).
Leviticus 6:8-9, 12-13 –
4. Never stop burning: throughout the night Psalm 63:6, Psalm 119:147-148 every
morning new firewood Mark 1:35, 1 Corinthians 15:31, Joshua 1:8, James 1:25, every
morning arrange the wood Psalm 119:9, Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 11:31-32, during
the day Galatians 6:9, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13. The bread I want you to work for is the
spiritual bread that came down from heaven (Jesus) John 6:29-35.
How to be a pleasing aroma to God
2 Corinthians 2:14-16 – It won’t be easy but God will lead you and it will certainly be
worth it.
