THE TOBAGO HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Where
The Tobago Heritage Festival is the largest single, most outstanding annual cultural event
to take place in Tobago. The annual event that is known as Tobago Heritage Festival can
be described as a celebration that serves to revel in the rich culture, traditions and
culinary arts of the Tobagonian people. Heritage Festival is a community based event,
primarily focused on highlighting the cultural differences of the various communities that
form the geographical landscape of the sister isle Tobago.
Why
The Heritage festival serves as a pivotal platform where the elder village folk pass on
their practised traditions through folk singing, dancing and feasting.
How
Popular presentations are the Ole Time Tobago Wedding in Moriah (a reenaction of an
18th century wedding procession), Folk Tales and Superstitions in Golden Lane and Les
Coteaux, Games We Used to Play, the Belmanna Riots, Salaka Feast and Invocation
Dance. Productions are held every evening in different villages around Tobago spreading
the celebration around the island.
