New Scheme
(For Students Admitted in 2011 onwards)

Scheme of Courses and Syllabus for

B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering
ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY HAMIRPUR HP-177005
Preamble: The scheme for the course of B. Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering
has been revised keeping in view the required shift in curriculum, arising due to developments in
the previous decade and changes foreseen to take place in near future. The scheme has been
prepared keeping in view the guidelines issued by AICTE from time to time. The scheme has
been prepared giving a proper proportionate weightage to Basic Sciences, Management and
Social Sciences, Technical Art and Professional Core and Elective Courses. To embark
flexibility in the scheme a number of elective courses have been introduced at an appropriate
level. This also provides freedom to students to study courses of his/her interest/ choice of
specialization at B. Tech level itself. The Scheme has 16 Basic core courses, 23 Professional core
courses and 7 elective courses (out of which 2 are Institute level Electives). Each course has been
assigned a unique course number based on following pattern.
EC

EC Stands for the offering Department i.e. Electronics & Communication Engineering in our
case.
@- indicates the Year of Instruction
# - indicates the semester, 1 if odd and 2 if even
$ - indicates subject specific number relating to specialization as given in following table.
It is proposed that the course numbers of these subjects shall remain unchanged. The scheme has
been designed keeping in view class strength as 45 students per course. The distribution of the
core and other courses are as follows.
