1.Where did the Bubonic Plague begin? How was it spread?

The plague began in Asia. It infected parts of Asia, the Muslim world, and Europe. During the
year of 1347, a fleet of Italian merchant ships came to Sicily carrying bubonic plague. The
disease swept through Italy, then went to Spain, France, Germany, England, and other parts of
Europe and north Africa.
2. How did the plague help to end the manorial system?
Serfs could not move from the mansion where they worked in, they had to stay when they were
born. The plague reduced the population in the rural area so much that a lot of the members of
nobility didn't have enough surfs to work on their land. This resulted in a lot of nobles bribing
serfs to illegally move to their manors and promised to protect them when they were working
there. By doing this they broke the old manorial ties.
3. List four symptoms of the Bubonic Plague.
There were four symptoms of the Bubonic Plague. One of them was painful swelling,
particularly those in the armpits and groin. Another two was sometimes purplish or blackish
spots on the skin, and extremely high fever, chills and delirium. The last symptom was usually
death.
