The photo-shoot from Monday was good because there are many different
building of all shapes and sizes and I was able to capture a variety.
In my final photographs, most of them are in black and white because I wanted
to eliminate colour and concentrate on value; the contrasts between the blacks,
whites and grey scale of the images as colour can sometimes distract the viewer
in what you want to commutate. I like the close up photograph because it was
interesting in the sense that it pays attention to detail that normally you wont
see or take notice of.
Aaron Siskind (top photograph) and Berenice
Abbott (bottom photograph) were the
photographers that I looked at before the
photo-shoot. Aaron Siskinds photographs
consists of close ups on the building whereas
Berenice Abbotts photographs are of the
whole building from a low point of view,
looking up.
Although I tried to do something like this in
my photographs, I think when comparing
there are similarities but look different at the
same time.
One example of what I mean is my close up
photo. It is similar to Siskinds photograph in
the sense that it is a close up but his is of a
If I could to this again and improve upon my work, I think the technique I would
stick to is close ups because it was something in my work that I done the most as
it was something at the time that I was concentrating on but I would experiment
in colour so that I can try different white balances to see the effect it would have
and if my photographs become more abstract.
