Nature:
The photo-shoot from Monday was good for doing macrophotography due the
amount of flowers in Kew Gardens however it was raining for the whole day.
In my final photographs, they are all in colour and most are macrophotography of
flowers. I wanted everything in colour because I wanted the bright, vibrant
colours of the flowers to stand out as that is what I want to look at when I see
macro images. I liked the macrophotography because I like going up close to
flowers and the details it gives because its something that you dont tend to
take notice of, plus I like the depth of field because I like the fact that part of the
only part of the photo is in focus. Plus, I liked the reflections because it can give
some abstract and irregular lines and shapes.
Raviprakash SS (top photograph) and Andrew
McRobb (bottom photograph) are the photographers
that I looked at prior to the photo-shoot. The aspect
of Raviprakash SS photography that I tried to
capture was reflections in the water. Whereas with
Andrew McRobbs photography took to the
macrophotography side that I was also looking at.
With the reflections photographs that I took, I
wanted to capture irregular shapes in the water or
any puddles that I found (although most of the
puddles were too small to see the reflections in) and
there wasnt that many places that had a ponds do
to the reflections as I had hoped.
However, the macro-shoots that I had done were
more successful than the reflections due to the
many flowers beds around and what I liked most
was the water droplets on them from the rain cause
it gives more character to the flower. Plus, I like
experimenting with depth of field because I like it
when a part of the photo is in focus and the rest of it
is blurred out because it makes your eye
If I was to do this again to improve on my work I would do more reflection work
due to the fact that I spent more time on macro and for the fact as well that
there wasnt much water to take photos of reflections. But I would also
experiment using different macro filters because I only stuck to the x10 one as it
is my favourite on to use and I would also experiment with a revering ring
because I had forgotten to bring it with me to Kew Gardens.
