    theyareinfactpeople,Nazisdontseemtothinkthesame.TheNazisfeelasthough
    theJewsarenasty,disturbing,andvilewastesofflesh.Tobethoughtofthatway,a
    wasteofflesh,hastobeabsolutelyhorrifying.TheJewshavetofightfortherightsthey
    deserve,butalas,theirattemptsarefutileandonlygettheminmoretrouble.Duringthe
    timeoftheHolocaust,Nazisslowlytakeawayanythingandeverythingthatcouldeven
    relatetheJewishpeopletohumans.TheNazistakeawaytheJewsrights,theirdignity,
    theirstrength,andinmostcases,
    theirlife.
    During

    mustthinkofpunishmentsfortheJews,whippingisnotcommonlyoneofthefirst
    choices.WhenIdekwascaughtwithwomanbyElie,Idekwasnotabouttoletitgoso
    easily.Beingseenandembarrassedbyapersonoflowerclass,by
    aJew
    .Eliewas
    sentencedto25whipsinfrontofthepublicforseeingIdekwithawoman(Wiesel58).If
    wordweretogetaround,Idekwouldhavelostanyandallauthorityhehadoverthe

    Jewishpeople.Hecouldntletthathappenandifittookstarvinginnocentpeopletodo
    so,thensobeit.
    Goingwithoutfoodforhours,makespeoplehungry.Somepeopletendtosay
    thattheyare
    starving.
    Butthetruthis,theyhaveneveractuallyevenfelttheslightest
    resemblancetostarvation.Theyhaveneverhadtogodaysandsometimesweeks
    withoutadecentmeal.Unfortunately,peoplelikeElieandhisfatherdidandbecauseof
    theamountofJewsthathadbeenbroughtintotheconcentrationcamps,foodwasone
    ofthemostscarcestitemsaround.Elieandhisfatherwereallowedonerationofbread
    aday(Weisel43).Thougheventually,thatwastakenfromthemaswell.Thelongerthe
    Holocaustwenton,thelessfoodtheNazishadtooffertheJewishpeople.IftheJews
    weretobestarvingorgettingsick,theywereexiledimmediately.IntheNazismind,
    theywouldntwastesuchexpensivemedicalservicesonvermonthatweregoingtodie
    anyway(Wiesel99).NotonlyweretheJewsstarvedandbeaten,buttheyhadtodoit
    alone,withoutanysupport.
    WhentheJewsfirstreachedtheconcentrationcampstheywereseparatedfrom
    therestoftheirfamily.Mothersandyoungchildrenwerethefirsttogotheywereofno
    usetotheNazis.TheJewswouldgetinwhatwasthoughttobeashower,wheninfact
    ithappenedtobethelastplacetheywouldeverliveagain.Justimagine,the
    wretchednessofthiswholesituation.Absolutelyawful.AlltheJewshadexpectedwasa
    shower,somethingthattheyusedtodoeveryday,butinstead,itwastheplacetheJews
    wouldtaketheirlastbreath.

    TheHolocaustwasoneofthedarkesttimeperiodsoftheworld.Millionsof
    innocentlivesweretakenduringthisperiodoftime.InnocentJewshadtogothrough
    tortuousthingsthatnooneshouldeverhavetoendure.Jewswhohadneverdone
    anythingwronghadtogothroughthingssuchasbeingwhipped,beingstarved,and
    beingseparatedfromtheirfamily.Itsashamethatwehadtolosemillionsofinnocent
    livesjusttoprovethattheyarehumanstoo.
