ARideinHeaven
Mysunroofwasopen,themusicwasup,andthetemperaturewashigh.Itcouldnthave
beenamoreperfecttime.Thesunsrisingheatonmyfaceandthemajesticsunlightreflecting
offofthesunglassesuponmyhead.Themorninghadstartedoffgreatitwastheperfect
definitionofafantastic,unforgettablesummerday.IwasonmywaytoCedarPointwithmy
bestfriendintheseatnexttome.Itcouldntgetanybetter.AswepassedLakeErie,Icouldjust
smell
ittheputridbutpleasantsmelloffishandmoistureintheair.Itwasamazing.Wepulled
intotheparkinglot,seagullseverywhere.AsIdrovemyvehiclecloserandcloser,theseagulls
segregatedtogetherandflewawaylikeabeautifulwhiteblanketinthesky.Itpassedoverus
withtheutmostgraceandserenity.Thesunsuddenlydimmed.Itlookedasthoughanangelic,
elegantweddingdresswascarriedovermyvehicleitwasgorgeous.Itwasasif,forjustaslight
moment,theworldwasfilledwithdarknessandconsistedofnothingbutpeacewithintheworld.
Thetemporaryeclipsesoonfadedandrealitywasquicklyuponus.Weparkedratherfarfromthe
entrancebutthatwasntunusual.Icouldhearthescreamsassoonasmydoorwasopened,the
senseoffearrangthroughouttheskyandIcouldnthavebeenmoreexcited.
Iwaveredmyseasonpassbytheworkerandshuffledmywaythroughtherathertight
revolvingbarsthathuggedagainstmywaist.Thesmellofthegrilledfoodfollowedme
tortuouslywitheverystep.Thiswasit.Thisismyfavoriteplace,whereIcouldliveforever.I

justcouldntgetenoughofthisatmospherethejoyoussouls,gigglingsmiles,andcontagious
laughter.Itwasmostdefinitelyasighttosee.AsIstoodthere,myeyeslockedontheroller
coastersoaringthroughtheair,Shannonhadviciouslygrabbedmyarmandpulledmeovertoa
rathershortlinecomparedtootherrides.Asweapproachedthefront,wewerehustledontoa
movingcartattachedtoapulleysystem.Wewerethenraisedslowlyfromtheground.Ifound
myselfaloftinthepreciouswindsofCedarPoint.Ipeeredeversoslightly,tryingcarefullynot
tomoveit,overtheedgeofourflyingcar.WewereatthetopofCedarPoint.Fromthere,I
foundmyselfstaringateverylittledetailfromthetallestrollercoastertheyhadtothenumerous
DippinDotslocations.Itwasmagnificent.Itwassuperb.
ItwasHeaven.
Wewerequicklycarriedoverthemajorityoftheparkandhoisteduponaliftedplatform.
Wewererushedoutofthecarasitwasonacontinuousloopthatneglectedtostopfor
passengerstogetoffyouhadtobefast.Weemptiedoutofthecarwithquickness.Wehustled
downthestairsandstoodintheheartofCedarPoint.Wewouldturnineachandeverydirection
andseenothingbutrides.foodstands,andpeople.
Thepeople.
Thereweresomanypeople.It
wasgreattoseesuchlifethere,butitalsocamewithitsproblems.Duetothefactthattherewere
thousandsofpeople,wewereforcedtostandinlinesforwhatseemedlikeforeverbutinreality
wasabouttwohours.Aswestoodinlineformyfavoriteride,
TheMaverick,
thesweatparticles
begantobeadonmyface.Ipeeredoverattheflatscreentelevisionsthathadbeenplaced
throughoutthelinethatplayedmusic,news,andCedarPointtrivia.
97degrees.
Shannonlooked
thesame.Wewerebothimmenselyhotwithtemperaturesalmostreaching100degrees.
Needlesstosay,Ireceivedprettybadsunburnafterthatday.Butitwasallworthitoncewe
steppedinfrontofthegatestoboard
TheMaverick.

Wepatientlyawaitedourturntoboardthethrillingride.Thecarbeforeusrodeoffinto
theblisteringsunsrayswhilethepreviouscarhadpulledintothestation.Theylookedterrified.
Asthecarapproachedpeoplewerescreamingthattheyhadwantedtogoagainandhow
enthrallingtheridehadbeen.
Icouldntwait.
TheautomaticgatesopenedratherslowlyformeI
wastooexcited.Iloweredmyselfintotheseat,mywaistrathersnugthoseseatswereobviously
notmeantforbiggerpeople.TheharnesswasreleasedandIslowlylowereditaroundmywaist
tothepointthatIwaspositiveIwouldntbegoinganywhere.Wewereinthefrontrow,thebest
seattherewas.ItwasalittlelongerofawaitbutIhadalreadywaitedtwohours,whatharm
couldfivemoreminutesdo?IheardthewordsIhadbeenwaitingforfortwohoursandfive
minutes,Alright,thereyougo!Pleaseenjoyyourrideon
TheMaverick
andtherestofyourday
atCedarPoint.Rideon.Thecarjerkedintoacontinuousmotionforwardwithmyheadpulling
backward.Thisisit.ShannonandIlookedateachwithextremeexcitementaswerosehigher
andhigheroffthegroundwhereweoncestarted.IstaredoffintotheskyasIwaspulledcloser
andclosertothebeautiful,white,scatteredclouds.Wereachedthetopofthemagnificent
coaster.Thecarbegantocreepovertheedgecausingittohangeversoslightlyoverthehill.I
peeredovermycarandwastakenabackbyhowhighupintheairwewere.Mystomachturned
overseveraltimeswithinthesefewseconds.Thecarstoodstillforashortperiodoftime.Itwas
asif,justforasecond,theentireworldhadstopped.Iwasbeingdangledoveroneofthetallest
rollercoastersintheworld,frontrow,andIwassecondsawayfrombeingdroppedlikearock.
Thecoasterbegantodrop,rightalongwithmyheartandstomach.
Thecarquicklyfell100fttotheground,turningacompleteninetyfivedegreeswithone
swiftmotion(Maverick).Thisway,thatway,thisway,thatway.Asmybodywasbeing

jerkedaboutbythecar,wecametosuddenhaltinatunnel.Itwaspitchblack.ItfeltasthoughI
hadpassedout.Inthesuddenwaveofblackness,themumblesstartedarousing.Arewedone?
Istherideover?Withinsecondsofthewhisperedmurmurs,thecarpickedupimmensespeed
outofnowhereandshotoutofthetunnellikeabulletescapingthebarrelofagun.Asthetears
strolleddownthesideofmyfaceduetotheimmenseamountofspeedwehadjustreceived,the
carcametoastopwherewethewholebeautifulnightmarehadstarted.Isteppedoutofthecar
afterShannon.Iwenttotheexitandpeeredovertheskyscraperesquepatio.Icouldseethe
entireparkfromhere.AlloftheridesthatIwasabouttoendure,allofthefoodplacesthatIwas
abouttoengorge,allofthepeoplethatIwouldbeforcedtowaitinlineafterandobtainarather
crispysunburn,
everything.
Thisplacewasamazing.Thepeoplewereamazing.Thesizewas
amazing.Icouldntgetenough.ThiswasdefinitelyaplacethatIwouldvisitmorethanonce.
ThisiswhereIcouldcall
home.
Thiswasmorethanjustanamusementpark.ThisiswheremybestfriendandIcouldgo
andforgetallthestressdealingwithschool,work,orsports.Thisiswherewecouldgotorelease
everythingwewerekeepingheldwithinandjusthavefun,liketeenagersaresupposedto.With
schoolarisingquicklywithinthecomingmonthsofSummer,wewenteverychancewegot.One
time,twotimes,threetimes,wecouldntgoenough.WhenIreachedthetopofacoasterandhad
seennothingbutLakeErie,theglisteningsand,andtheextravaganthotelsalongtheshoreline,I
knewrightthenandthere,thiswouldforeverbecomemyfavoriteplace.Thiswouldforeverbea
placethatIcouldcall
home.
