The document reports on the results of a survey conducted in front of the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia. When asked if they were fans of art, a third of respondents said no, though some said they liked art but were not big fans. Three fifths believed art has a strong presence in Brisbane, while two fifths did not due to it being a new city. When asked if Brisbane's art reflects the city's image well, 34 of 50 said yes, while the remaining 16 said no because not many outside the city knew about its galleries. Seven of 50 did not think art contributes to the economy, possibly because art does not earn much money or is owned by private companies rather than the government. Most thought

Our group was very surprised with these results, as we were standing in front of the GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art), and a third of the people said no they werent fans (some said they liked it but werent big fans). These results might have been because as I previously mentioned some said they werent fans, but did like it, while others were probably just walking past the gallery as we were standing about 20 metres in front of it.

DOES ART CONTRIBUTE TO
THE ECONOMY? I personally thought this was an obvious question, but despite what I thought 7 out of the 50 people still said no that they didnt think it contributed to the economy. They might have said it because maybe the art didnt earn a lot of
money, or maybe because it was owned by private companies not the
government. I think it would contribute to the economy as it attracts tourists.
