Maryam was one of the last 4 children remaining at the daycare on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. While the teachers were decorating for Eid, Maryam took paper cuttings and pretended they were a stethoscope to examine her friend as a doctor. The caregiver recognized Maryam's imaginative play and provided a toy medical kit to encourage her learning. The document recommends nurturing children's natural curiosity and ability to learn through play, in order to guide their development in a positive direction.

The day was Wednesday and it was a sunny and beautiful day.
It was 4pm and most of the children
were already picked up by their parents. There were only 4 kids remaining and Maryam was one of them. We were in the centre and were preparing for eid celebration. We were using a lot coloured papers for decoration. Teacher Madiha was busy with the decoration and I was taking care of the children. Suddenly I saw that Maryam took some of the leftovers from the paper cuttings and placed both ends in her ear and walked towards Adeeba. I followed her and asked what she was doing. She replied, Im a Doctor. I realised she was pretending that she was a doctor who was using a stethoscope to examine a patient. After talking to her I brought a medical toy kit with a doll and a toy stethoscope so that she could continue playing. She was delighted and she started to continue her wonderful imaginative experience. Children are confident and involved learners. Children are able to make decisions and choices, to influence events and to have an impact of their world. This shows that she has a very strong observative nature to associate a doctor to a stethoscope at her age. It is recommended to be aware of this so that any further idea that she learns will be of a positive nature. I hope of a very bright future for you my dear Maryam!
