5. Chamber Events
Event on 10th September had about 14 people attended disappointing that
most were not from TDCC. Inspire/Wessex were not supportive of us on this.
Difficult to know what our members want in terms of events had to cancel a
couple of meetings end of year, pensions etc..and Robert Snook.
Website worked well but now needs to be taken to the next stage and
someone to take it on. Olawale has suggested that perhaps Wellington
could help with business support

Thursday 19th November was networking drop-In meeting to now be a
members meeting to look at way forward.

Website a bit out of date HL to update

HL will be leaving for Paris on 25th October so discussion ensued on what
what will happen now? Suggested change title/role from Business Manager
to Secretary and change 11 hrs to 5-7 hours a week at the 10 an hour rate
who may be interested? Sean Suggested he may have someone in mind and
will let her know and see if she is interested.
DW is also keen on standing down from TDCC from April 2016 and asked if
any of the committee would be interested in taking over from him. The
Chairmans role and the Business Managers role need to be clarified.
It was suggested that we could open the Chairman/Business Manager role to
our membership.
DW still keen to stay in an honorary role where it is more of a back seat but he
can still attend Wiltshire Board and other committees and also sit on TDCC
board but not get involved in the everyday running of chamber.
Role for new Chairman/BM would be focussing on building better links with
members and representing their needs how can we get best market our
members services so they feel they are getting value?
Also, tasks of building a new database and prospecting for new members
With regards to the BM/secretarial role, SW said he has someone in mind
who is looking for 3 days work a lady with a young child whose husband is a
pilot and is away often. SW could give the lady one day and if TDCC could
give her another day then she would have just one day to find. SW to follow
up and find out more. Lady works for Safari Adventures.
2,000 in TDCC bank balance must go back to Wiltshire Council as it is for
Castledown Business Park marketing.
Could the BM approach big local business or people working here like
Persimmon, Bloor Homes etc and ask about working together and maybe
getting some funding support from them.
It was suggested that TDCC invite members to the November meeting and
ask how they would like the chamber to run
Option 1. Rejigged Chamber or
Option 2. Wessex to take over the running of the TDCC
Neutral email already set up for new person to run HL to do list of email
addresses for new Secretary. Website log in already set up.
HLto make undertake a breakdown of hours and tasks for new person.
Suggested a 7 hour, one day a week role perhaps on a regular day like
every Thursday.

Sue to take over cashbook and accounts and deal with Francis Clarke who
have all documentation at the moment for accounts purposes. HL to meet
with Sue to discuss this.
