Not too long ago, the isolated and impoverished village
of Berceni, located around 50 kms from Bucharest, was virtually unknown to many in the AISB community. Much of this has changed since the AISB community partnered with Second Chance (http://www.secondchanceromania.ro), an organization founded by Cosmina Pandele and dedicated to provide the people of Berceni with hope and a second chance. Stuff the Bus has become an annual event and a tradition at AISB. This event will take place again on Friday, November 20th and is linked to the Harvest Festival and the Spirit of Giving to support the less fortunate and needy in our greater community. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to discuss with your child/ren the plight of many families in need and the importance of helping the impoverished. Students are encouraged not to go home with the suggested list and ask you to buy the items on the list (list is attached to the Mega Image bag). Instead they should engage and share their ideas with you for how they can help raise funds to buy the items themselves. We appreciate your assistance with this project in helping your child/ren collect the recommended food items. Please collect the items in the bags (kindly donated by Mega Image) and send them to school between 9th-20th November. The bags will be sent home next Wednesday. This list was given by Second Chance and is based on the needs of the people so please ensure that you only buy the items listed and please ensure that the items on the list are not close to expiration dates. The approximate cost for all the items on the list is 75 Ron depending were you shop. On Friday, November 20th, we look forward to filling a bus with all the bags of food collected by your students. The bus will deliver the bags of food to Second Chance who will then arrange to distribute them to the villagers at the annual Christmas party. DIFFERENCE!
