1. Goals:
a) To effectively integrate a variety of strategies to get to know my students
and their interests. b) To improve on my timing and pacing of my lessons 50 minute periods are new to me so I must be concise and to the point
2. Strategies for achievement:
a)
a. Openly discuss my own personal life, show my humor and true
colors. My honesty will allow them to open up to me. a. This is the most amount of students Ive had to learn at one time so every day I will memorize at least five new names. a. Every different sport/unit I will ask and find out who are my stars. ie: who are my football players outside of school, etc. a. Any moment I have students sitting out due to injury, walking together to the field, or even sitting at lunch time, I will actively ask them about their personal lives. b) b. Focus on the structures of my lessons when planning. Limit sitting time!!! b. Implement teachable moments in class point out aspects to improve on as well as aspects which are going great. b. Have integrated formative assessments vs. direct skill testing.
3. Indicators of Success: a)
a. I am having fun. When I am at my most comfortable and open self I
am joking around, yet always professional a. I can name every student in my classes by the end of the first two units a. Students will be openly discussing their weekends, etc. Telling me about how their football game went and so on. a. Students will be able to communicate with me openly no matter the circumstances. b) b. Time it takes to get outside (or playing inside) will lower as I progress into the semester b. Games are set up in a manner it is easy for me to see students putting in a full effort or not. b. Balance between instruction time and playing time never feel as though we only had 5 minutes to play, etc.
