The GSD has not been denied the chance to meet with the Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL) as they claim. The fact is that the GSD did not request a meeting with HSL, even after the government announced HSL's visit this week. HSL met with other relevant stakeholders, including ESG, GONHS, and representatives from local communities. When the GSD said today they had been denied access, the government contacted the GSD leader and invited them to still meet with HSL. Experts from Shell also recently visited but only met with community stakeholders, not politicians or the press.

The Government has not denied the GSD the chance to meet the Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL). The fact is that the GSD has not asked to meet HSL even now. The Government had previously announced that HSL would be in Gibraltar this week to meet the relevant stakeholders. They have met the ESG, GONHS and the representatives of Waterport Terraces and Harbour Views who wished to meet them. They also held a press conference which has been widely reported. At no stage have the GSD in the weeks running up to this visit by HSL, asked to meet these experts. Even today, they have not done anything to request a meeting. When they have said today that they have been denied access to the HSL experts, the Government has contacted the GSD leader and invited them to meet the HSL experts. There is still plenty of time for them to meet. The experts from Shell who were in Gibraltar yesterday would not agree to meet any politicians or the press. They met only with community stakeholders.
