Time: 20 minutes
Behavioral Objective(s):
The children will use rulers to measure both of their feet. When all of the children
are finished they will compare, to see who has the biggest and smallest feet.
Materials/Necessary Preparation:
The children will use construction paper, writing utensil, and a 12 inch ruler.
Anticipating and Planning for Challenges:
Some of the children may not want to participate in this activity. Others may not feel
comfortable taking their shoes off. Many may not be able to stand still long enough
to get their feet measured.

I will ask the children, one at a time to take off their shoes, and stand on a sheet of
construction paper. Once their feet has measured, I will ask them to put back on
their shoes and then they may choose a center.

If the children enjoy the
activity, I will bring in a
tape measure and allow
them to measuring
items within the
classroom. For the
children that did not
want to participate I will
just give them a piece a
paper and a ruler.
Closure/Transitions:
Once the activity is over I will play the song Foot Loose so the children will know
that the activity is over. Then the children may proceed to the center of their choice.
