Originally,

SFVC was a committee known as


Robeson County Committee on Domestic
Violence, INC in 1981.
This committee was founded by 5 Robeson
County citizens.
The very first office was on 15th Street in the
Old Church and Community building.
For many years, the office and shelter were
combined.

In

the mid 90s, SFVC purchased 108 West 9th


Street for offices.
In 2003, the shelter had extensive
renovations.
Today, SFVC has 10 full time staff and 3 part
time staff members.
SFVC has been servicing Robeson County for
thirty-four years and has helped over 20,000
individuals.

Latina Advocate
-There is large population of Spanish speaking
women who come into the office and our shelter.
- This advocate would help assist these clients
and interpret them as needed.
Child Advocate
- Many children come into the shelter with their
mother.
- This advocate would be responsible for
providing entertainment for the children.
- Possibly having the advocate go into the school
system and work with children in DV situations.

Recently,

Southeastern Family Violence


Center received a grant from the Office for
Violence against women of $350,000 for
three years.
The grant money will provide transitional
housing for survivors of domestic violence.
