Dear Eighth Grade Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to my 8th grade Social Studies class. I extend this welcome to not only the
students, but you as well because I am hoping this class will become a team effort. In
order for this year to be as successful and engaging as possible, I would love to stress
communication between you, the student, and myself. This letter should serve as the
starting point.
The students have been introduced to my class website. This site is an extremely valuable
resource that provides information about various units, lessons, and homework. The site
will be updated regularly and all contact information and useful links/dates will be
located here.
One unit we will be exploring this year is World War I. Since we are now 8th graders, we
will explore the war beyond the causes and effects and look at it in a much more
analytical way. This unit is already up on the website if you would like to get a jump start
on exploring all of the websites components.
The students have received the link to my website, and I also sent out an email in addition
to this letter that has more details. The email also has the link to the website!
I am very excited to get to know all of the students and parents/guardians. This should be
a very fun and successful school year!
