-zhongjie advised CS is hard to apply for, suggested apply for management
information science instead.
-? CMU for MIS, many go to CMU (3-4 per year) in her major. Nobody goes to
CS from her school this major is not very strong
-Also applying to statistics at Columbia? Want to go to California. Will consider UCLA
or Berkeley statistics.

Research experience?
-Now with a professor on text data mining, crowd negative or positive attitude to
news through social media

Not very many in finance department = 100 students, only 10-15 applying for
abroad, 30+ , other students find a job.
Why not job, but study abroad rather? Want to learn more, work on wall street.

At least 10-20 nankai students will enter Columbia in MFE/OR/Finance/MAFN
No history of CMU admits
Many get offers from Columbia, Rutgers, Cornell FE, some from yale statistics
PhD or Masters (1 or 2 from school of mathematics), very few from Harvard (1
in Public Health Yu Xiao, Phd in Statitcs), 1 from pure mathematics got offer
from Cambridge. None from courant, some from NYU poly.
A professor is a graduate from Rutgers, more likely to be admitted.

Zhao Li America 20 years ago. Program from PKU, Fudan, Nankai. CUFD, China US
Future Development program. 20 persons per year. Flight ticket. 3-4 students from
Nankai every year.
