Bodh Gaya
The Buddhist demon Mara continually tries to stop the enlightenment, so they are in this
constant state of debate. Buddha-to-be asks Mara who is witness to his donations and she
replies and points to the army of 700 men behind her. Mara asks the same and he then touches
the Earth. The Earth thundered I bear you witness with a thousand roars and Mara and her
army fled.

The First Preaching at


Sarnath

As the enlightened Buddha, he finds five monks at Sarnath that he performed austerities
previous to his enlightenment. He taught his religious doctrine despite initial dissociation
between himself and the monks.

Miracles of Shravasti
A group a heretics was heard to perform miracles by the king of Shravasti. Buddha told the king
that he, too, can perform miracles and would under a mango tree. The heretics burned it down
or destroyed it in some way. So, Buddha
instantaneously grew one up from a mere
seed in the ground.
The Descent from Indras Heaven
Buddha went into to preach to his deceased
mother and other people there and the courtly
thing to do was from Brahma and Indra to
accompany Buddha on his return to Earth
which is what is depicted.

The Monkeys Offering


A monkey sees an elephant give an offering to the Buddha of fresh water and fruit in which he
ate. The monkey offers a honeycomb in which Buddha accepts but does not eat. The monkey
finds insect eggs on the back of the honeycomb and picks them off one by one. The Buddha
then proceeds to eat the honeycomb. Overjoyous, the money falls from swinging on vines to his
death where he is reborn in paradise with an entourage of celestial nymphs.

Taming of the Enraged Elephant


A cousin of Buddha sends an enraged elephant to attack him but the elephant is tamed but the
Buddhas kindness.

Death
Buddha dies at the age of 80 and proceeds into nirvana. He tells his followers to work on their
salvation.
