4. Meshing
Duc to the complexity ofthe goometry unstructured grid was developed (8). Inflation layers wore added
along the blade surfaces to capture the boundary layer regime. For CFD simulation, only the fuk! volume
was considered and meshing vas done only on that volume. Figure 2 shows the meshed Hid volume with
unstructured rid

2 Boundary Conditions
Inter: Absolute pressure of 1,99 bar corresponding to 10 m head was given as inlet boundary condition,
(Onitet: Mass flow rate was applied atthe outlet face of impeller.
Walt; Blade surfaces, hub and shroud were mexcled as @ wall boundary condition with no sip flow
condition.
Turbulence Model: Spear ses transport (SST) model with 5% turbulence intensity was used (9),
‘53 Mesh Independence
‘Theoretically, the erorsin the solution related tothe grid must keep reducing foran increasingly fine mesh
The diseharge head at nominal flow conditions was taken as the parameter to be evaluated at grids of
liferent sizes and the influence of the mesh size on the salution was determined. Another sty involved
