1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
The fantasies are that you will have plenty of time to do all of your tasks and the reality is you dont have
time and must prioritize.

2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

Currently I have my ADN and my RNC. You must complete 20 CEUs every year and for RNC 45 hours
every 3 years.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

I feel very secure because nurses are always needed and they are opening a wider variety of jobs all the time in
the nursing field.

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?

The lowest may be around 30,000-35,000 and the highest around 90,000

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?

Unending, new jobs are always opening as they come up with new ideas.

A lot of the time there are too many babies and not enough nurses.

you may not even have enough time to eat or go to the bathroom.

I wanted job stability and more money when I work overtime

Too many things to do at once and CPS or adoption babies.

9. What was the hardest part of nursing school?


All of it was hard, it was a different style of thinking and took a lot of my time.

The fantasy is that a delivery happens fast and the reality is that deliveries are usually very long and
demanding.

2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

Currently I have an AND with certification in OB (RNCOB) and am currently getting my BSN. I am
required to have 40 hours of education every 2 years to keep my license.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

Laboring patients
Evaluation fetal monitoring strips
Efficient work
Recognizing problems in the birth processes

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

I am very secure in my position, nursing units are very short on staff. In the future nurses will be required
to at least have a BSN degree.

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary)
Entry level is about 50,000-60,000 a year and as you gain it only goes up (150,000-200,00) a year.

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?

You can earn your nurse practitioner degree or your doctorate in nursing.

7. Why did you choose your career field?
Ive always wanted to be a nurse, I like to take care of people and it was pretty quick to get a degree. The
earning potential is great.

8. What is a common problem that is run into?


Not having the resources I need when I need them. Organization could be better.

9. What was the hardest part of nursing school?


The hours of studying were very hard and the content.
