Life & Death Expectancy

oCountries with declining birth rate undergo
demographic transition.
oIndustrial countries have low death rate due to
decreased acute epidemics.
oLife expectancy is influenced by many factors (i.e.
race, gender, age).
oThe most powerful way to lower the population
growth rate is to increase age of the first childbirth.

Application to Case Study

1. Indonesia faces health problems caused by consumption
of vegetables & fruits with pesticide residues and foods
with harmful preservatives and toxic colouring. These
hazardous substances are considered as organic and
toxic pollutants that will slowly deteriorate health.
2. The Javanese environment is becoming less suitable for
living due to water, land and air pollution. Damaged
environment will result in imbalanced ecosystem.
